When you decide you want to have a dog in your life, many thoughts come to mind. Many people worry about an issue which apparently might seem less important: their pet’s fur. Why is that important? Well, some people suffer from allergies and have to be very careful about it. Some other people don’t want to deal with the enormous amount of fur that some dogs shed, because it implies a serious housekeeping.
Big Dogs That Dont Shed
Dogs can carry some pollen on their fur, which can cause allergies to many people. Besides, dogs don’t shed only hair, they also lose dead skin in the process, which is harmful to some people who suffer from allergies. Logically, if a dog sheds less, he loses less dead skin, reducing the impact on the owner’s allergies.
However, if you have an allergy, you must talk to a physician to see if you have the needed conditions to have a dog. Even the dogs that shed less always lose some fur, which may lead to respiratory complications.
If you want a dog that almost don’t shed, you have already some limitations on your choice, which can help you to pick a new friend faster. What about the dog’s size? Here we are going to talk about big dogs that don’t shed too much. Some of them are, for instance:
- Airedale Terrier
- Irish Water Spaniel
- Bouvier des Flandres
- Standard Poodle
- Giant Schnauzer
- Wirehaired Pointing Griffon
Note that every dog shed a little, like every person loses some hair. These are some of the breeds that shed less among the big dogs. Nevertheless, there are some tips to reduce the shedding. Remember that when people lose hair, it might mean they are sick or they’re not following a good nutritional plan, among other possibilities. The same situation can happen to dogs. If you think your dog sheds too much, it is a good idea to take him to the Veterinarian and see what is happening.
In order to decrease the fur problem, you might keep your house as clean as you can and comb your dog’s fur regularly. While you comb your dog’s fur, you take away the dead skin and the hair that has already loose. If you suffer from allergies please be careful while doing it. You may ask a family member or a friend to help you.
Keep your hands clean and always wash them after touching your dog, playing with him or touch his things (his blanket, his toys or his bedding, for instance).
Vacuum the floor and furniture. Avoid using the broom.
Try to keep the places where your dog is most of the time very clean, specially his bedding.
If you suffer from allergies maybe it is not recommended for you to sleep with your dog.
Choose furniture “allergic people friendly” to your house. Don’t keep many carpets, long curtains and other materials that gather powder and fur. You have them, try to clean them regularly.
As you see, dog shedding can be solved with some simple actions. Whatever the dog you choose, don’t forget that every dog loses some fur, but if you keep the spaces and the dog clean you are avoiding a lot of troubles about it.
